Isaiah 27
May 05, 2008
I was reading this morning in my The Message Remix: Solo today. It is a devotional book written by Eugene Peterson. He's the guy who did The Message version of the Bible. It is a daily devotion with Bible passages (in The Message) on one side, and a guide for thought and prayer on the other.
Today is day 126 of 2008. It is kinda shocking to me how much of the year has gone by.
In Isaiah 27 Isaiah tells how God will someday slay the leviathan (basically a dragon-like creature), and then He will create a garden that He will tend. The good vine will cling to Him, and He will nurture it.
The whole thing is a metaphor for how God deals with sin and righteousness. I pray that God will look at me more as a tender gardener than He does a dragon-slayer.
